Israeli borders is one my longest ongoing projects I started shooting as a soldier while in my mandatory service and have ever since been venturing around the borders of Israel and Palestine documenting everyday life and how it changes between both sides of the Green line and its inhabitants—going back to dose places that simultaneously draw us together and tear us a part.
it’s the kind of ambiguity that I’m trying to catch in my pictures in the land between the Jordan river and the sea everything is politically charged. I’m trying to draw a « neutral » picture of the inhabitants and the places people travel for work leisure or religious ceremonies.
places that are claimed by all and other places that have been all but abandoned.
At the beginning of 2005.
As Mark twain(1835-1910) wrote to his son, after his journeys to Palestine “Many are Israel’s forsaken places, and great is the desecration. The more sacred the place, the greater the devastation it has suffered. More than 100 years later some places still tell the same story and others are charged with new meaning every day.
The images in this series aim to take you on an undistinguishing tour between secular and sanctity from the weeping wall to Kaser el yahood from the lowest place on earth to the beaches of tel Aviv and to offer the viewer a small window from which to gaze on the lives of ordinary people going about their daily affairs.
